Purpose of the JTAT workshop is twofold. The first one is to provide the opportunity for teachers of Japanese in Texas to explore and expand their knowledge and skills necessary for teaching and learning of Japanese Language and culture. The second one is to promote their professionalism in language instructions and beyond. JTAT believes in Education in Japanese Language and Culture. Through Japanese Education, we make our effort and commitment in teaching learners of Japanese in Texas and make contributions to promote the cultural understanding and awareness in people of Japan and the U.S.A.

Speaker/Discussant : Dr. Noriko Fujioka-Ito, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio

Topic : "Autonomous Learning : What is learner autonomy in connection to different learning styles in
           Japanese  - how can we  promote students-centered learning styles when promoting language skills
           in Japanese in class ?"

Certificate : Participants of the workshop will receive the Susanne M Glasscock School of Continuing Studies Credit
                   for Teacher Professional Development in Japanese upon request. The cost of Certificate is $10.00 a person..

            Please note that if you are not a current member of JTAT, there would be charges of $30.00 for registration fee
            and $20.00 for lunch at Rice University Faculty Club. Please pay in full amount by check at the Registration on the
            day of the Workshop or become a member prior to the workshop and take advantage of attending the workshop
