Purpose of the JTAT workshop is twofold. The first one is to provide the opportunity for teachers of Japanese in Texas to explore and expand their knowledge and skills necessary for teaching and learning of Japanese Language and culture. The second one is to promote their professionalism in language instructions and beyond. JTAT believes in Education in Japanese Language and Culture. Through Japanese Education, we make our effort and commitment in teaching learners of Japanese in Texas and make contributions to promote the cultural understanding and awareness in people of Japan and the U.S.A.

Abstract and details of the workshop

Certificate : Participants of the workshop will receive Certificate of Participation for 6 hours of Content-Based Instruction
                 for Teacher Professional Development in Japanese upon request.

for workshop attendance and Certificate request.   

            Please note that if you are not a current member of JTAT, there would be charges of $30.00 for registration fee
            and $20.00 for lunch at Rice University Faculty Club. Please pay in full amount by check at the Registration on the
            day of the Workshop or become a member prior to the workshop and take advantage of attending the workshop
            with minimum charge described below. For application to JTAT membership, please visit our website
            and click Membership and Renewal.

9:15 -11:15  Workshop and lecture on "Content-Based Instruction in Japanese classrooms "

11:30 -1:30  Lunch at Cohen House, Faculty Club at Rice University ($15.00 )
                  
                  懇談会 or a panel discussion with Deputy Consul-General, Mr. Murase and Vice Consul Mr. Akiyama from Consulate-General of Japan
                  at Houston  on " Japanese Education in Texas"and "Texas State Japanese Language Speech Contest 2010 "
                  
                  Presentation of Door Prizes (donated by the Japan Foundation and Office of Consulate-General of Japan at Houston)

Afternoon :

1:30 - 4:45  Hands-on workshop on "Content-Based Instruction "continues at Language Resource Center, Rayzor Hall, Rice University.

4:50 - 5:50  JTAT Meeting (report on Speech Contest, JTAT Bylaws amendments, etc)

6:30 -
